GAS CYLINDER & AEROSOL
CAN STORAGE CAGES
ALL PRATT GAS CYLINDER AND AEROSOL STORAGE CAGES ARE DESIGNED AND MANUFACTURED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH AS 4332 – THE STORAGE AND HANDLING OF GASES IN CYLINDERS AND AS/NZS
1596 – THE STORAGE AND HANDLING OF LP GAS.
CLASS 2 – GASES
Gases are substances that are entirely gaseous at 20°C and 101.3kPa, or have a vapour pressure exceeding 300kPa at 50°C.
They are stored under pressure and may pose hazards such as fire, explosion, toxicity, or asphyxiation.
DIVISIONS
• 2.1 – Flammable Gases: Ignite easily in air and burn rapidly (e.g. propane, acetylene).
• 2.2 – Non-Flammable, Non-Toxic Gases: Inert or oxidizing gases that may displace oxygen or feed combustion (e.g.
nitrogen, oxygen).
• 2.3 – Toxic Gases: Poisonous when inhaled, even in small quantities (e.g. chlorine, ammonia).
LABEL COLOURS
• 2.1 – Red with flame symbol
crossbones.

2.2 – Green or yellow with gas cylinder or oxidiser symbol
| 2.3 – White with skull and
STORAGE GUIDELINES
It is recommended that Class 2 gases be stored in purpose-built, ventilated wire-mesh enclosures such as the PRATT Gas
Cylinder & Aerosol Storage Cage range.
These cages provide secure, weather-resistant containment, encourage good housekeeping, and isolate cylinders to reduce
the risk of fire or reaction.
Not all gases can be stored together.
• Flammable gases (2.1) must not be stored with oxidizing (2.2/5.1) or toxic (2.3) gases.
• Oxidizing gases (2.2/5.1) must not be stored with toxic gases (2.3).
Gas cylinder cages should be located outdoors, allowing any accidental leaks to safely dissipate.
FEATURES:
• Yellow powder coated steel construction, suitable for outdoor environments.
• Solid steel roof and floor with ventilated welded-mesh walls and doors in a reinforced frame for strength
and airflow
• Strong magnetic door catches and padlock eye (padlock not included)
– 1A and 2A aerosol cages feature a hasp latch instead
• Raised support legs with pre-drilled feet for secure ground fixing (recommended)
– 1A and 2A aerosol cages include anchor tabs instead
• Forklift moveable when empty (for relocation only)
• Available in multiple configurations – from 42 aerosol cans to 4 forklift cylinders or 18 G-size cylinders and more, in single or
double-sided formats
• Restraining chain supplied to prevent cylinders from falling
